(1) Refinished mahogany veneered case with a couple of veneer chips on the front just below the splat. Original painted dial has some wear to the numbers, the gilt spandrels and the center area. Hands are original. Movement by Ephraim Downes. The stencils on the columns have been restored. The bottom tablet looks to be original. The original center glass has new stenciling. The feet are not original. Two side returns are replaced. It is rare that we find an Ives clock with a wooden movement, Ht 36" (2) A poorly made case of mahogany or possibly birch with a glossy varnish or shellac finish. Original painted dial has some loss at the winding arbors. Hands are original. Mirror is period and looks to be original. Bell had been replaced with a later gong. Clocks by Steele are scarce. Clean label inside the case. Ht 31"
