Mahogany veneered case in an old finish with a veneer repair on the base, veneer repairs on the door, both ears repaired and some damage to the tips on the skirt. The feet may have been replaced. Original painted dial with some minor flaking near 3 o'clock. Hands and tablet are original. Key escutcheon has been replaced with wood. A small piece of glass is missing in the left corner of the door. Set of three period finials. This actual clock was illustrated in color on the cover jacket and p. 12 and five black & white photos on pp. 15-17 of the book "Clocks" written by Doug Shaffer for the Smithsonian Illustrated Library of Antiques, 1980. Ht 28.25"
