Atkins, Bristol, Conn., steeple or "Sharp Gothic" mantel clock, 30 hours, time and strike, spring driven fusee movement in a rosewood veneer case with painted metal dial and silk screened tablet, c1848 the case retains an old finish with veneer lifting on the curved surfaces. There are typical flakes to dial and tablet. The gong has been replaced with a new bell. This specific clock is pictured on page 36 in NAWCC Bulletin Supplement #9, published in Winter of 1973. Scarce. Note that time & strike cords travel from movement to pulleys in case top, then down to fusees; a unique setup. Ht 19 3/4"
