Japanese lantern clock, single foliot, on a later [but not new] pyramid base, weight driven, from the Doug Shaffer collection, c1790 this clock will need some restoration. Inside the case, all the arbors and uprights have been painted with red nail polish to cover a coating of rust [pinions and wheel teeth are Not painted], The dial suffered a bump that has resulted in the loss of several numerals, and the balance of the enamel with cracks and glue repairs. Bell is original; top nut home-made. The well made stand appears to be late 19th century, and has been carefully copied from an original, and with one trapezoidal panel that opens for winding. Note photo shows 2 small iron counter weights, however the large driving weights are here, just not in photo. Ht of clock only = 12" Overall with stand 42"
