German, oak cased bracket or table clock, 3-fusee, 8-bell, by Winterhalder & Hoffmeier. Chiming the quarters on choice of gongs (Westminster) or bells (Whittington), and with a rectangular dial with gilt cherub spandrels and subsidiary dials for time regulation and choice of tune, c1890 the dark oak case is sound, but has some scrapes and other losses to the finish. Has 4 heavily beveled glasses to the sides, top and front of case. Large & robust movement is marked at base of rear plate = W & H, Schl. Gong assembly was removed after the movement for safer transport; inside case; pendulum is under movement. This clock is from the Rose Brandt collection. Ht 19"
