this clock was produced in 1984; these finely detailed cases were all made in Sorrento, home of all kinds of inlaid cases for jewelry and musical boxes. These extra large units were a special order and were expensive. We would imagine this would go well in a fancy hotel reception area or in a large house with French theme. Pendulum bob has been replaced; otherwise movement is fine, ticks and strikes. The case is Very heavy; the metal bits of both cast brass and spelter, finished with a gold-tone spray. We are not normally impressed with late 20th century items, however this one will give you a great French look for a fraction of an antique clock price. Ht 80"
