Ansonia Clock Co., New York, "Monarch" 8 day time, hour/half hour strike movement shelf clock in walnut case. c.1880. The case has its original finish which has darkened significantly with age. The lower door hinge is broken and will need to be replaced. There is a small damaged area on the lower base molding toward the right side. The movement is in need of repair for the time train main arbor spring is broken. The paper dial is in good condition but has wear between 5 and 6. The hands appear original. The stenciled glass is original with some fading of the decoration towards the top. Ht 24 1/2".
