The case has an old darkened finish. There is some minor veneer damage on the lower case molding. The original painted time dial has some overpainting on the days of the week. The hour, minute and day hands are later replacements. The calendar dial and hands are original and in excellent condition. This clock is similar to the "Italian No. 3" on page 75 of Welch Clocks- Second Edition by Tran Duy Ly, but this example is 19 3/4" tall rather than 18 1/2", so a variant.
