France, Briant, marble and gilt bronze mantel clock with separate base, the base with convex ends, and with recessed panels, all with gilt ornament, the front in relief depicting putti creating mischief, and on foliate ornamented toupie feet, the base of the clock case with gilt swags and with paw feet, and the upper section with figures flanking the dial, a putto on the right presents a bird to the standing female at the left, Arabic numeral white enamel dial signed "Briant a Paris", gilt pierced and engraved hands, 8 days, time and strike, pendule a Paris movement marked Vincenti, c1870 gilt surfaces dirty and with minor losses, but retaining much of their original surface, and would improve greatly with careful cleaning, marble dirty and with some very minor flakes, one shallow chip just below clock dial, some gilt ornament a bit loose, dial dirty, with minor flakes at regulator, and minor loss to signature, hands good, ticks and strikes, pendulum replaced, Ht 17"
