German Hoyt Life Picture "Black Farmer" Automaton layered color lithograph of a black farmer, dressed in red hat, blue and white checked shirt and overalls. The spring key wind movement winds from the rear and actuated from the side, causes head to tilt left and right, the mouth to open and close and the eyes to look left to right. This is an unusual of example of black memorabilia, set within a fancy carved gold frame, c1895 the automaton is in good working order and functions on command when wound. The movement and actuator are replacements. The frame and box housing the lithograph are restorations. Ht 29 1/2" x 25 1/2"
