(2) Nutone Corporation, Cincinnati, OH, Electric clock and door bell in the form of a Pillar & Scroll shelf clock; (3) Seth Thomas Clock Co., Thomaston, Conn., ÒColumnÓ model 8 days, time and strike, spring-driven miniature Empire shelf clock, c1870 (1) During the late 19th century the making of fretwork objects became popular with plans available to create picture frames, clock cases, etc. on a scroll saw or cutout by hand. You could then obtain a movement from an old clock or purchase a movement, often American, from the supplier who sold you the plans and the jig saw and tools to make the case. This example appears to have a German movement probably obtained from and old clock and used in this case. The paper dial maybe a later replacement with wear and repairs near the winding arbor. (2) Mahogany case in what looks to be an original finish with some minor dings and scratches, Original brass and gold tone dial is in very nice condition. Original tablet. We have not checked to see if the clock is operational. (3) Rosewood veneered case in original finish with some repairs on the base. Original painted dial with scattered loss. Hands look to be original. Original mirror. Movement is signed. Clean label inside the case. Ht 16Ò
