French, dore bronze figural clock, ARMY, an officer in full dress with bugle in left hand and a percussion rifle over his left shoulder, standing near a parapet, the clock itself tastefully off-center, the whole above a base of urns, swags and scrolls, and with a good old rectangular glass dome, c1840 a nice tribute to the army from the first half of the 19th century, there is some wear to the gilding and other little corrosion spots that have found their way to the surface. Although the clock is now protected by a glass dome, it apparently stood for some time without a cover, and the silvered, engine-turned dial has gone to black. The well made bell strike movement bears the number 197, but no logo nor name to identify origin. Ht of clock = 14.5, Ht of dome = 17 1/2Ò
