France, Japy Freres, ormolu figural clock depicting a young man with long hair and in period costume, his hat laying beside while he reads a book, flanked by a detailed basket of fruit with napkins, the upper portion supported by a base of floral sprays and rococo scrolls. The clock itself an early and quality Japy unit with silk thread suspension, and retaining original tre-foil hands, showing the time on a perfect porcelain dial, c1840 bell nut replaced, otherwise excellent original condition with bright gilding.
