Welch, Spring & Co., Forestville, Conn., ÓItalian No. 1Ò shelf clock with a spring driven, 8 days, time only, movement and a B. B. Lewis perpetual calendar mechanism in a rosewood veneered case, c1872. The case has been refinished and the base has lost its veneer and was stained to resemble rosewood. The original time paper dial has been coated with a finish that is starting to flake off. The the paper calendar dial has darkened with age. The hands are original. The movement is signed E. N. Welch, Forestville, Conn. Ht 18 1/2Ó.
