Clocks- 2 (Two) European: (1) French Delft-style porcelain clock, Japy Freres Medaille DÕHonneur, 8 days, time and strike, movement, c1890; (2) English, F. W. Elliott, Croydon, Westminster chime bracket clock in a solid panel rabbeted case, and with composite brass dial, with tune selections of Whittington or Westminster. 8 days movement with platform lever at top of movement. This is all English manufacture, not a Continental movement, c1960 (1) the ornate blue and white case is in nice undamaged condition. The enamel dial, with its blue numbers is good except for small discolored spots. Original gilt hands. The convex beveled glass, in its cast brass bezel, is fine. The signed movement ticks and strikes but was not tested long term. Ht 14Ó; (2) story first, this clock last sold on eBay on 3-12-2006, as item 6610175913, seller petra40cat for the sum of 625 pounds Sterling, or $1,078.50 at the time. It arrived in the US with one of the 8 rods broken [still is], otherwise it is the self same clock, with receipt and photo included that was sold on eBay. Although I am partial to English items, I would guess that our current estimate is closer to the real value. Other than the one broken rod, it is complete and intact, needing only cleaning. Ht 14 1/2Ò
