George Mitchell by Atkins and Downs, Bristol, Conn., fully carved half column and eagle splat mahogany case shelf clock with a, 30 hours, weight driven, wooden works movement, c1830. The case retains an original finish and has nice pineapple finials and claw feet. The lower tablet with heavy gilt border is original as found in several early Mitchell clocks, but it has been out of the case and undergone restoration. The upper door glass is period, but likewise has been out of the case. The nice period American Eagle hands. The label is in good condition. The painted dial is showing some wear and age discoloration. Ht.30 1/4Ó.
