English, Mayo & Son, Manchester, small Gothic frame ÓSkeletonÒ single fusee timepiece, w/ scalloped engraved and silvered dial, with dome, c1850
Anonymous (not verified)
24 October 2024
a well made little clock, with turned / decorated baluster pillars, the pillars swaged into the rear plate and the front plate held in place with screws and collets. Robust 5-spoke train ticks reliably. And with spoke front cover on spring barrel, as was often seen on earlier skeletons. The old rectangular dome and base are later, with holes from a previous clock, but new felt or velour would cover extra holes. The finely turned pendulum bob with trim rings and a rod scalloped both edges, front and rear. Dial freshly waxed and silvered. Ht of frame = 9 1/2Ó [24 cm]
