(2) Austin Chittenden Lexington, Mass., Gilt capped Column and Stencilled Splat shelf clock in a mahogany veneered case with a weight driven, 30 hours, time and strike wood movement, c1838. (1) The case has a dark original finish with veneer loss on the upper and lower return moldings. The dial has been repainted. The hands are original. The lower tablet is a replacement. The movement is signed. Ht 25". (2) The case retains some original finish. There is restoration to the columns. The original painted dial shows loss at the chapter ring and some of the numerals. The hands are original. The door mirror is period and may be original. The case top returns are absent, Ht 35".
