Boston area lyre clock, mahogany and mahogany veneer case with heavily molded base and acanthus carved bracket, throat panel with leaf and scroll carving and decorated tablet, brass bezel with convex glass, Roman numeral white painted metal dial, blued steel barbed hands, 8 days, weight driven timepiece movement, c1830 with alterations. case with an old finish, much of the carving at the lower part of the throat panel missing, and the remaining material contoured to make the frame presentable, frame now attached with two screws through the front, inside of top with deep recess on left side, perhaps to accommodate an alarm or other mechanism, gap between bezel and throat frame, finial replaced, throat glass repainted, dial and movement replaced, Ht 37 1/2"
