E. Terry & Sons, Plymouth, Conn., 30 hours, time and strike, weight driven wood movement with rare "window shade" alarm pillar & scroll shelf clock, c1830

24 October 2024
Mahogany veneered case in an old finish with a veneer repair at the key escutcheon and the door bottom. Original hands and movement. All alarm parts appear complete. The dial is nice, but probably from a later clock since the minute markings of pillar & scrolls are almost always inside the chapter numerals (note the minute hand does not reach the minute markers, but would if the markers were inside the numerals). The cross strip on the door has cracks and misaligned repairs. The scrolls and feet have been replaced and the right scroll tip now has a repair. The tablet is modern. Nice set of period finials, however. Ht 30"
