Southern Calendar Clock Co., Saint Louis, MO, "Fashion No. 9" calendar shelf clock in a walnut case with a spring driven, 8 days, time and strike movement (New Haven Clock Co.), c1885. The case has been refinished and has a dark overtone. There are extra screw holes on the upper dial mounting board and the appearance of a prior dial bezel slightly larger than the current one. The black time dial with gilt numerals, with wear, appears to be correct. The black calendar dial with gilt numbers is in good condition. The brass hour and minute hands are original. The brass calendar hand is a later replacement. The door glass may be later. The clock uses the New Haven simple calendar mechanism, which is correct. The movement is signed. Ht 32 1/2".
