Prentiss Improvement Clock Co., New York, EMPIRE model calendar 60 day, spring driven timepiece, with "Thrasher" style calendar mechanism, c1898. the case has been refinished to a light mahogany color, & the dial has been repainted. The winding clicks on the time movement have failed and the springs are out against the case and difficult to get the front cover on and off. These springs are extremely strong, and it appears that the center of the right one may be broken. On the calendar, 5 of the date cards are off, but present (in plastic bag); we could not get them to stay on, as the retaining wires are bent,. Restrainer for the calendar is absent. These long running Prentiss models are difficult to find. Ht 27"
