Austrian, Schonberger, large single weight 8 days timepiece with 9 inch dial (10" bezel), in a long, 66 beat case, the case of walnut solids and veneers, and with unusual carved pendulum stick, c1875 ok, right off, this case has been stripped and coated with modern clear gloss finish. However, this is the nicest case we have seen in a long time, with carved pansies and peonies, plus leaf sprays, on door corners at 45 degrees. When it comes to case size in Viennas, both the miniatures and the over size do not turn up that often. This one is exceptional. The slide mount movement is large, plates measure 5" x 6", and with maintaining power, and large Graham style dead beat escapement. Movement cleaned by Beachams and in good order. Sch^nberger dial signature intact; couple of hairlines in porcelain. Ht 68 1/2"
