the case has an old finish with a replaced top. The bottom has been cut down. The movement appears complete, but will definitely need service. The dial has age splits in both the top and bottom painted panels, but is still very vivid and has great appeal. The hands are original. F. Hofmeier is listed as a clock maker and dial painter of the mid 19th century in Schwarzwalduhren by Berthold Schaaf.
