Welch, Spring & Co., Forestville, Conn., "Gale Drop Calendar Model No. 2", 8 day, time and strike, spring brass movement wall clock with Daniel J. Gale's patent calendar. Rosewood and rosewood veneered case in original finish that has been cleaned and rubbed downed to a nice glow. Original paper dial has age darkened a little with some light stains, but still nice. Original hands and gold leaf and black tablet. The gilt border on the bottom door is now gold painted. The gilt printing on the black label inside case is faded, but readable. A few years ago we sold examples of these scarce calendars for three times our current estimates.
