French, MYSTERY clock, time and bell strike, with Guilmet patent movement [signed], in a black marble case, accented with lions to the sides and with cast feet, the statue above carrying the glass lens pendulum, moving with no apparent impulse.

original black slate / marble case has no breaks nor repairs; minor edge roughness commensurate with the age of the clock. The incising in the case front originally held gold highlights, now absent. The spelter statue has repaired left raised arm , the statue now painted black. Movement is clean and appears to run, but would benefit from professional set up. Original black dial with incised Roman numerals retains original bright gilding. Even considering statue repairs, overall very good condition. Information on the escapement and on Guilmet can be found in the book titled MYSTERY, NOVELTY AND FANTASY CLOCKS, by Derek Roberts.
