the case retains its original finish with some restoration. Original old wavy glass on sides and front. The silvered dial has been professionally restored. The maker's father is listed in "The Book of American Clocks" by Brooks Palmer in Mt;. Pleasant, NY adjacent to Sing Sing in 1850. The striking astronomical configuration is very unusual. The back plate of the movement is engraved "Made for B. Brandreth 1877 by Rob't M. Lawrence." The back of the dial is also engraved "Rob't M. Lawrence Maker Sing Sing August 2 1877". The clock was a special order for Dr. Benjamini Brandreth (1809- 1880), a pharmacist and patent medicine inventor of Brandreth's Vegetable Pills from Sing Sing, (now Ossining) NY.
