Japy Freres, Paris, France, figural mantel clock, 8 day time and strike, count wheel and bell, spring driven movement with floral themed ceramic dial and insets in a gilt spelter case featuring a seated female figure surrounded by symbols of art and science including a pitcher, gear, paintbrush & pallet, books, steam engine, anvil, spyglass, and square. the original gilding has worn off the case and figure in many places. Painted ceramic dial is somewhat stained, but is in otherwise good condition, as are the case insets. The minute hand has been repaired. The pendulum bob is stamped with the same number as stamped on movement. Movement ticks and strikes but was not tested long term.
