Clocks- 2 (Two) French black slate mantel clocks: (1) 8 day spring driven movement time and strike movement with count wheel and bell in a black slate case with marble accents and matching pair of side pieces; (2) 8 day spring driven movement time and strike movement with rack and snail strike in a black slate case flanked by metal lion figures. Movement has the Japy Freres Med. D'Honneur stamp. (1) Slate case is in good condition with very small chips on outward facing corners. Dial and hands are in fine condition. Glass is a modern replacement. Movement is unsigned. Somewhat larger chips to edges of slate candelabra. Movement ticks and strikes, but was not tested long term; (2) Case has a couple of small chips on the edges. Beveled glass and dial are in good condition, though there is a large hairline crack in the porcelain portion of the dial. The hands are mismatched. Movement ticks and strikes, but was not tested long term.
