Shaw, Glasgow, mantel clock, 8 day, time and strike, spring driven movement with unusual key setting arbor in the lower front of the dial, black slate Egyptian revival case with gilt dial and accents, the whole surmounted by a gilt sphinx figure. small chips / roughness to edges of case, especially along the bottom front edge and corners. Small seams apparent on either side of lower front stone piece. Dial is lightly tarnished. Front and rear beveled glasses are in good condition, as are the hands and the well detailed sphinx figure. Movement is stamped "J.B.D." which was common for clocks made by Delettrez for retailers.
