Merryweather, Birmingham, late 18th century tall clock with automata in the arch, the oak case with bracket feet, the base with thumb molded panel with incurved corners, trunk with engaged quarter columns and thumb molded door with oxbow and ogee shaped top, bonnet with break arch door, flanking columns, and pagoda top, composite dial with Roman numeral, silvered chapter ring, the signed, engraved center with calendar aperture below the center arbor, and the arch with disc, having an oil painting of a deranged looking fellow with wagging tongue and moving eyes, 8 day, weight driven time and strike movement, cast iron weights, and pendulum with brass clad ball case refinished, minor marks and scratches, a few small losses to upper trunk molding, case back with cleat added at top, left cheek with shim, dial restored, hands mismatched, portrait disc loose, movement ticks and strikes, crutch bent, linkages from crutch to eyes and tongue replaced, will need repair and adjustment, weights good, pendulum rod replaced
