Mayer, Germany, animated dog novelty timepiece, 30 hour, time only, spring driven movement in a cast metal case in the form of a dog with panting tongue and wagging tail. dog's tail is absent. Finish is dirty, but appears to be original. Small hole in case adjacent to tail. Glass eyes are fine. Dial has hairline cracks and small losses that have been painted white. The tongue and its linkage appear replaced. Movement escapes when coaxed, but without the tail the movement is out of beat. Movement is signed "MAYER".
