24 October 2024
Mahogany veneered case in an old finish has some minor damage at the hinge pins. The scroll top is a replacement. The feet have been replaced and a small repairs to the skirt tips. Original painted dial has some loss in the center area. Tablet is a replacement. Period hands. Movement has had repairs. The back of the dial has a label detailing some of the work done in 1968 by the late Ed LaFond. The backboard is unusual in that it has what looks to be a Chauncey Jerome label over pasted on the Hodges label. From the strip of wood on the top and underside of the top this case may have had slots for pulleys for different movement at one time and was restored back to what it is now. Bell is a replacement. Finials are replacements.
