Theodore E. Burleigh, Winchester, Mass. gilt front presentation "Truth and Justice" banjo clock, with mahogany case surmounted by an acorn finial, brass bezel over the roman numeral dial signed "T. E. Burleigh, Jr./Winchester, Mass", gilded rope molded frames support reverse-painted tablets in gold and white, the lower box glass depicts Truth and Justice as mythical women holding the liberty cap and pole, and the balance scale as Justice and Equality, flanking the Federal eagle perched atop of the world globe and clutching the banner with the United States motto, "E. Pluribus Unum" (out of many, one), all set against a stage of canon balls, flags, a drum and a Federal shield as a pendulum aperture, the whole resting on a carved and gilded pediment with balls and acorn drop, eight day brass time only movement stamped "Kilbourn & Proctor Inc.", with recoil escapement, all powered by a lead weight and regulated by a brass faced pendulum bob and steel rod.
