paper mache case in very nice condition has some slight wear on the front of the base. Original painted dial has some loss in the center, at the winding arbors and small chip on the outer edge. Original hands. Nicely engraved backplate on the bell strike round plate movement. This clock is pictured on page 132 of Diston & Bishop's, "The American Clock" and atttibuted erroneously as an American made clock. However, this type of surface decoration was extremely popular in Baltimore, Maryland from1800 to 1840 and could be the reason for the confusion.
