European, 3-weight "Vienna Regulator", grande sonnerie in a large 72 beat version, the modern walnut case carefully copied from an original, with canted corners, dozens of small frame moldings accenting burled insets, and carved with lions heads and roses at top, and acanthus leaves near bottom of door. The base itself fully carved with winged eagles and leafy scrolls. Removable top trim with large carved lions head and floral accents. movement, pulleys, hands, dial, are period [1875] Viennese production, pendulum + weights more recent, case circa 2005. There is a small bit of transit damage on bottom angular moldings where something horizontal was packed against them. Otherwise the case shows good workmanship, typical of hand work in Romania or the Czech Republic. Mov't is slide mounted. A large and impressive clock.
