T.S. & J.D. Negus, New York, two day marine chronometer, 11 jewel fusee movement with decorative scraping, Earnshaw's escapement, freesprung, cut bimetallic balance, diamond endstone, and blued steel helical balance spring, now with later break circuit mechanism closing the contacts at one second intervals, Roman numeral silvered dial with wind indicator and blued steel spade and poker hands, lacquered brass bowl, the bezel engraved "U.S. Navy", and contained in a 20th century purpose made box with screw terminals, serial #1215 running, plates with minor spotting and fine marks and scratches, dial good, hands good, bowl with specks of tarnish, inner surface of bezel with minor staining and verdigris, box with minor scratches, dents, and losses to finish. This chronometer was one of 41 listed in the Record of Trial of Repaired Chronometers, December 1886- June 1887, included in the 1892 publication "Observations Made During the Year 1887 at the United States Naval Observatory". Of the 41 chronometers in the trial, 22 were of Negus' manufacture.
