Japy Freres & Cie, Paris, France, figural mantel clock, 8 day, time and strike, spring driven pendule de Paris movement, black slate base with molded front and top supporting a cast spelter case with agrarian theme including a basket and hoe, and seated female figure with a sickle in one hand and a sheaf of wheat in the other, white enamel dial with Roman numerals, and blued steel Breguet hands. The black slate case has some chips at the corners. The white enamel dial has fine cracks in the lower right portion. The spelter figure has been touched up with paint. The clock and figure were glued to the top of the slate case in recent years and the brown epoxy is visible along some of the edges. If this clock ever had feet they are now absent.
