Lenzkirch AG, Lenzkirch, Germany, for the Swedish market, cartel clock, 8 day, time and strike, spring driven pendulum movement in a grand gilt wood case adorned with garlands, swags, fluted pilasters and sheaf of wheat finial, painted metal dial with Arabic numerals signed by a Swedish retailer, and gilt hands. There are several small missing sections of gesso and gilding on the case which is otherwise in very good condition. An applied floral ornament is missing from the lower center section of the case. The gilding is very nice. The paint on the dial is just beginning to crack on the right and left edges. The large convex glass is very good. Original gilt hands. The square movement has a deadbeat escapement with Vulliamy pallets. It is stamped with the Lenzkirch trademark and serial number 1,926,759. It is also stamped "28" and "AGUL / F6 ". The movement is a rack and snail strike on a bell. Another example of this Swedish style by Lenzkirch can be found in the book "150 Jahre Lenzkircher Uhren" on page 163. An uncommon and impressive clock.
