The movement is a bit dull and dirty, but the box sounds very good. The dark wood case has some small areas of finish loss on the lid, edges, and corners. There are two broken teeth. The lid has a 4 inch crack starting on one end. The bill included with the lot is on B.A. Bremond letterhead and is dated 1880. The bill was address to Mr. Henry C. Gibson in Philadelphia who was presumably its first owner. Gibson was a businessman, distiller, philanthropist, and art collector. His collection of American sculpture and European paintings was given to the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts after his death in 1891.
