Mahogany and mahogany veneer case in old, possibly original finish with some small veneer damage on the bottom bracket, a ding on the right side half round molding and a repaired crack in the carved lyre front. Finial plinth looks replaced. Dial door has three shrinkage crack repairs. Original dial has yellowed and has some staining. Hands have age, but may be replaced. Bottom tablet is cracked and protected with another layer of glass. Throat tablet is cracked and has another piece of glass to protect it and has areas of gold paint to cover the missing areas in the original gilt design. Movement possibly by Henry A. Hinckley, Boston. Movement is attached to the case with a screw through the backboard. A similar example can be found in "Willard's Patent Time Pieces" by Paul Foley on page 133.
