Nicholas Blaisdell, Amesbury, Mass., 30 hour, time and strike, weight driven brass movement in a rustic soft wood case. The brass dial has a pewter chapter ring, calendar aperture, cast brass spandrels and pewter boss with maker's name engraved.

Early Blaisdell style movement, patterned after French lantern clocks unlike most American 30-hour posted frame movements patterned after English lantern clocks. The simple austere case is typical of early Blaisdell clocks and retains an old finish. The seatboard has been replaced. The hands and retaining ring on the count wheel are replaced. The pendulum and bob are period. The weight is a replacement. Nicholas Blaisdell (1743-1800) was son of clockmaker David Blaisdell (1712-1756) and was one of three brothers producing tall clocks pre-Revolutionary War in New England.
