case tarnished, with remnants of gilding in recesses, repeat pusher button replaced, front glass with tiny flake at lower right, rear of cornice with small spots of corrosion, dial mask dirty, time dial cracked at 4:00, minute and alarm hands replaced, movement with minor discoloration and tarnish, minor marks and scratches, platform replaced, strike barrel with replaced tooth, running, striking, and repeating working correctly, travel case with minor wear and scuffing, leather handle nearly detached, lining with wear and losses, travel case dimensions listed.

Boston Clock Co., Boston, Mass., carriage clock, 8 day, time only, spring driven movement with jeweled lever escapement in a cast gilt case replete with Grecian ornament reminiscent of French clocks from the 1830s, the movement is enclosed in a glass drum

The cast case is in very good condition. There are some fine scratches to the gilt finish on the base. Front and back beveled glasses as well as cylindrical glass around the movement are all good. The silver on the dial is yellowing on the upper right side. There is some dirt and wear around the winding arbor hole. Very nicely made hands. The small lever that comes through the dial to adjust the rate is absent, but this can be done from the back of the clock. The movement is signed and stamped with the serial number 13473B.

France, an unusual, champleve enamel decorated, pillars style hour repeating carriage clock, the gilt case with outset corners, turned feet and columns, the base, frieze, and top with scrolling foliate designs, and decorated with polychrome enamel colors

dirty, with losses to gilding and minor staining, portions of case with a layer of gold paint, glasses good, all enamel good, movement dirty, running, striking, and repeating correctly, hands not synchronized with striking, some hammer lifting pins bent, occasionally blocking hammer, gong with spots of oxide. Sir Donald Currie (1825- 1909) was a 19th century shipping magnate, first working for Cunard Shipping Co., and in 1862 founding the Castle Shipping Co. In his later life, he gave generously to education and other worthy causes.

France, attributed to Gaye, Lamaille, & Co., a fine, Aesthetic Movement, porcelain paneled hour repeating carriage clock, the gilt, Cannelee variant case with folding handle, the sides set with panels depicting a potted flower in blue, on a cream ground,

case with minor marks and spotting, minor losses to gilding, front glass replaced, rear glass with glue residue, panels good, dial good, hands replaced, movement running, striking, and repeating correctly. The Patent Surety Roller mark refers to an extra wheel, geared to the minute wheel, having a disc with crescent cutout which blocks the star wheel and prevents the hour from advancing accidentally due to a shock. The crescent lines up with the star wheel at the hour, allowing it to advance without obstruction.
