Shelf Garnitures Portico
French 3 piece set, dull silver or pewter finish. No evidence anywhere of gilt or other finish.
The dial has the same finish plus inlaid porcelain cartouche numerals and a large porcelain inner dial that is signed, "Aux Louis d'Or, Puluis Royal". Beveled convex glass in the sash. The theme of the set is evidently musical instruments. The clock is 15" high and the side pieces are 11.5" high. 8 day movement is just like #484, bell strike, unsigned. The strange looking pendulum is stamped, "6262", the same as the movement. It just keeps on running.
C.1880, French, Marble & Brass, 3-piece mantel set in excellent original condition.
This is an attractive set, with dark rose & white mottled marble used in the base and uprights of each piece, and all accents & feet well cast with nice detail. The well made bell strike movement retains original sunburst pendulum, and the white porcelain dial with fancy polychrome floral decorations in a wreath pattern inside the numeral ring. Fancy cast hands are original. Height 15 inches
C.1880, French, Marble and Ormolu Mantel garniture clock
in very good original condition. This is a love temple theme with a central fountain and two doves, flanked by a young girl with butterfly wings and opposite a young winged boy. Except for years of dirt built up on the ormolu, this would be excellent; it should respond well to cleaning (with solution). The movement is a small French platform timepiece with gilt hands and a fancy dial with polychrome decorations. The tip of the minute hand with an old repair; overall very nice quality. Height 12"
French malachite- veneered chiming portico clock garniture, circa 1880
A late 19th century French malachite- veneered chiming portico clock set (garniture), the drum case with urn finial raised on four columns, swag gilt ormolu mounts to the front of the case sitting on a breakfront base with toupie feet, the white convex enamel dial with black Arabic numerals and finely hand chiselled gilt hands, 8-day French movement striking the hours and half hours on a bell with a pair of twin light candelabra 17" x 10" x 5"
C.1900, French, 3-Piece, Marble and Ormolu mantel set, as- found.
This clock was neglected under the work bench, has wrong pendulum, and no set stem in rear. Most important, the brass cylinder that houses the movement has stress cracks all around and will need a major repair. Timepiece movement ticks OK, and with gilt hands. Tan/red marble with edge abrasion, but generally OK. Side pieces are fine. Height 14.5'
C.1890, French, Portico Mantel Set, White marble and gilt bronze
in the style of Louis XVI. This is a nice set, the well made round movement signed "H and C Paris". Retains a perfect porcelain dial with floral wreath decorations, and fancy gilt hands. The movement runs but would benefit from cleaning. The side garnitures are intact, one with small chips in rear that do not show. Overall very good condition. Height 18" Reserve $700

C.1880, French, Portico Mantel clock garniture Set,
Marble and Bronze in the style of a century earlier, and in good condition. One of the column bases (bronze) has a fracture that is not too noticeable, and the top trim has been broken and repaired (decent rivet job). The white marble is nicely molded with a bow front base on both the clock and urns, and all bronze feet are intact. The well made French movement is signed "Paris Make, France", retains original pendulum and the bezel number matches the movement.
C.1880, French, Marble and Ormolu Portico clock
set in good original condition. The tan/light red/white mottled marble case is in good order with no cracks nor chips, and with matching side pieces. The fancy porcelain dial is singed Michel, Laigle. Good French movement strikes the hours and halves on a bell; f/s adjustment rod is missing Note flower basket pendulum; Height 15" $300-500
C.1880, French, 3-Piece Empire Mantel set in good condition.
This is a magnificent set, and certainly unusual to find with the candelabra intact. Each candelabrum and the basic case of the clock are bronze, and the ormolu mounts are bright gold - a pleasant contrast. The shortcoming on this clock is the dial which was repainted around 25 years ago before professional replacements were available. It looks fine from 3 feet away but the blemishes show when you get close. The round bell strike movement is running, but would benefit from service. Height 21" Reserve $3000
