Gustav Becker, Freiberg, Germany, Vienna style regulator, 8 day, time only, weight driven movement in a walnut case with fluted columns flanking the door glass and turned ornaments, brass clad pendulum, white enamel dial reading in part "Breitinger & Kunz
There is a split and missing piece of wood at the top of the door. The case has some veneer losses and scratches. The door is difficult to open. The lower left finial is absent. The movement is stamped with the Becker trademark, the Medaille d'Or award, and serial number 752359. Breitinger & Kunz were located at 37 and 39 North Ninth Street in Philadelphia (as noted on the dial) where they sold jewelry, watches, and watch supplies.

The case has an old finish with a few bumps and nicks. There is a large split in the back on the lower right side. There are smaller splits in the wood above and below the dial opening. The porcelain dial is very good. Door glass is old and wavy. The back of the movement is stamped with the Becker trademark, the Medaille d'Or award, and movement serial number 416713. The movement ticks and strikes, if a bit sluggishly.
Germany, miniature Vienna style hanging regulator, 8 day, time only, weight driven movement in a softwood case with turned and fluted ornaments, brass clad pendulum and weight, white enamel dial with Roman numerals, and blued steel hands
The case has been nicely rubbed down. Worm holes and a crack in the upper portion of the door. One large wood knot is visible on the left side of the door. Replaced glasses hare held in with large glazier's points. Hands are loose. Dial and hands are excellent. Movement has been serviced not long ago, but will need a bit of attention.

Small piece or molding is broken off of the back right corner of the case. Fine hairline crack under the winding arbor. Subsidiary dial is a bit faded. Hands appear original. Front glass is a replacement. Movement ticks.

case refinished, and with minor repairs, small veneer loss on left side, lower right, minor veneer blisters on cornice, one stabilizing screw missing, seatboard replaced, mounting brackets now with rabbeted recess instead of a slot, with screws securing the seatboard, dial with fine scratches and hairline below 6:00, hands replaced, and lacking even blue, ticks and strikes, two weights with minor dents and replaced hooks, hook washers missing, one pulley replaced, pendulum good

the case retains an original finish with some light bleaching to the left side of case and a high quality heavy bracket. One carved element needs to be reglued. The ebonized molding on lower right side of door has a chip. The glass on the left side of case is short and needs to be replaced. The door key is absent. The pendulum has been shortened and repaired and will need adjustment to properly receive the crutch. The beat scale is absent.

the movement dates to circa 1870 and needs cleaning. The case is of very good quality, of late 20th century manufacture, with some minor veneer and inlay lifting.
European, 3-weight "Vienna Regulator", grande sonnerie in a large 72 beat version, the modern walnut case carefully copied from an original, with canted corners, dozens of small frame moldings accenting burled insets, and carved with lions heads and roses
movement, pulleys, hands, dial, are period [1875] Viennese production, pendulum + weights more recent, case circa 2005. There is a small bit of transit damage on bottom angular moldings where something horizontal was packed against them. Otherwise the case shows good workmanship, typical of hand work in Romania or the Czech Republic. Mov't is slide mounted. A large and impressive clock.
F. Kroeber Clock Co., New York, "Vienna Regulator", similar to No. 50, but with fluted bottom. Shown in the Kroeber book (Ly 2006), page 471 as #K334.
A nice example from the collection of Kent Kroeber, clean and running. These movements were made for Kroeber by "Remember" in Vienna, and the timepieces with seconds hand have 40 teen in the 'scape wheel to provide a hand that revolves once a minute rather than once every 45 seconds as do those with 30 teeth in scape wheel.
