The bowl is illuminated by a night light candle inside and revolves via a movement in the base, thereby indicating the time. French circa 1880
Rare, Hand Carved Owl Clock - American Folk Art
American antique folk art clock, hand carved owl, 30 hour, original finish. Dated 1850, this well-detailed owl clock is hand carved. The wood appears to be oak with original finish. The clockworks are 30 hour and it keeps surprisingly good time. Many additional photos. The movement is unmarked, could be an early EN Welch or Jerome. It has a large balance wheel. The brass bezel is polished and has a patent date May 10, 1850. The eyes are glass and one is cracked. (See photo). The tip of one ear was broken and has been properly repaired years ago. The point to the beak is also broken away.
C.1900, French, A spelter novelty of a young farmer pushing a wheelbarrow containing garden vegetables, but notably a large squash which contains a 30 hour alarm clock.
Condition: The case is in generally very good condition, attractively repainted some time ago and with nice patina. We sold a cousin to this clock in April '99, lot 426 for nearly $1,000. this is a one day clock with alarm. Height 10";
C.1960, German, Karl Griesbaum, Clock Peddlar and Whistler, with 30 hour pendulum clock with arched dial.
Condition: This item was received as a gift and packed away for half century. It is truly in outstanding condition, whistles and runs fine. Height 13 inches
C.1913 New Haven Clock Co., 30-hour figural novelty timepiece.
Condition: Cast metal case is in fair condition with some of its original gold finish remaining; one of the "toes" of the base has been epoxied on, and the entire base has separated at the girl's ankles and been glued with super glue. Porcelain dial is perfect and hands are original. We couldn't find this specific model in the catalog. Height 10.25 inches
C.1920 French, 8-day time/strike marble and spelter mantel clock, classic Art Deco with decorated figure.
Condition: Marble case is in good condition with some damage and repair to the top of the clock area of the case (received a bump there at some time. There is some roughness and small chips on the front edge of the base. The painted figure has paint and gilding loss and the bird in her hand has lost part of its wing (only noticeable on close inspection). The hands are original. The bell to the movement has been replaced. In nice condition, we see these in Manhattan for over $1,000. Height 10 inches
Organ Grinder metal clock.
Small one day pendulum movement is running. Weights are for looks only. Stands 15.5 inches high. Paint is original, only slight wear. Good example of this novelty. Needs a small pendulum to complete. Page 12, Timesavers catalog, 1.00 dollar.
New Haven novelty clock, "Statue of Liberty new York. N.Y.".
Metal case is copper color, stands 15.75 inches high. Back wind movement is running, dial is signed, case is marked several places. The tablet she is holding says, "4th July 1776".
Cuckoo clock salesman, molded of some hard material, pieces glued together, painted.
What you can't see are the 8 cuckoos on his back. The movement is a pop out small watch movement with a tiny battery-that needs to be replaced. Dial marked, "Romantic Collection". Stands about 11 inches high.
Golden Novelty Co. small clock with cupid, excellent finish on the 5.5 inch case.
One day movement is running strong, original paper dial, seconds dial. Original and very clean case. The only mark against it, it has no back plate, but that doesn't stop it from running.
