Bucks County, Pennsylvania Cherry Chippendale Tall Case Clock,
with broken arch topped dovetailed bonnet with central flame carved finial resting atop a pineapple carved half column, plain rosette terminal on goose necks, tombstone form hinged door, flanked by plain tapered full columns with ring turned capitals and base, waist with fluted quarter columns and scallop topped overlapping door, hinged at right with inset key lock, base with matching quarter columns and raised panel in burled cherry matching waist door, with ogee bracket feet, pine secondary wood.
English Mahogany Tall Case Clock,
with broken arch bonnet with turned rosettes, hinged tombstone-topped door flanked by tapered turned full columns, waist with turned half columns, bow front door with cock beaded edging, inset lock with key, onion dome applied half-moulding above door with ogee board at bottom of waist. Base with sunken panel front, solid ends with scallop-cut skirt. Polychrome painted iron dial with shield crest of Kent above, floral spandrels, sweep second and calendar dials with Arabic numerals, chapter ring with Roman numerals.
Fine A. Edwards Ashby, Massachusetts Cherry Tall Case Clock,
cherry with pine secondary wood. Hood has a pierced pediment with fluted plinths topped by brass finials, turned columns, and a tombstone door. Case has a thumb-moulded door and bracket feet. Wooden works, with polychrome-painted dial with floral decoration, and signed in the center of the chapter ring A. Edwards / Ashby. In a dry, old finish; 89" high x 19" wide x 10.5" deep. Abraham Edwards (1761-1840), worked in Ashby ca 1794-1840. Condition report Minor repairs; VG.
American Cherry and Paint-Decorated Tall Case Clock,
old poplar and pine secondary wood case, with broken arch pediment and engaged quarter-columns. Hood has freestanding turned columns in front; applied, carved paterae and shell in the tympanum; chip-carved rosettes. Waist has paneled, cockbeaded door with round window and original brass pull. Paneled base sits upon turned and ebonized feet. Though hands and bronze bell are old, dial and brass works are new. Reverse of calendar wheel is signed, "A.H.
L. Watson Cincinnati Cherry Tall Case Clock,
ca 1820, poplar secondary wood with old, probably original, finish. Broken arch pediment with original turned wooden finials, chip-carved rosettes, 4 free-standing columns, and arched top door. Case waist has canted corners with lamb's tongues on top and bottom, chip carving, a scratch-beaded door, and sits upon elaborately shaped skirt. Repainted polychrome and gilt-decorated arched dial is signed L~Watson Cincinnati, and includes red flowers in the spandrels and red-breasted robin in the arch.
L. Watson Cincinnati with E. Warner of Lexington, KY Case,
cherry and poplar secondary. Broken arch pediment with carved rosettes and recently added V-shaped drop supporting very tall turned finial. Hood has gracefully turned, free-standing front columns with center swells and original glass. Waist has canted corners with lamb's tongues; door retains original pull and has scroll across top in Signature form of cabinet maker Elijah Warner of Lexington, Kentucky (1810-29). Base has overhanging waist molding and straight French feet. Polychrome and gilt wooden face is signed L.
Luman Watson Cincinnati Ohio Tall Case Clock Works and Dial,
original time and strike, weight-driven, wooden works (unmarked). Polychrome and gilt painted wooden dial, Roman numerals, with L. Watson Cincinnati arched around circular landscape painting with domed building, gilt scrollwork spandrels, and fine gilt and polychrome urn of flowers tombstone painting. 12" wide x 16.25" high.Ex Paul A. Read and Watson Tall Case Clock with Masonic Dial,
cherry with poplar secondary. Broken arch pediment with inlaid rosettes, 4 free-standing turned columns, and arched sidelights. Waist and base have canted corners with lamb's tongues top and bottom, string inlay surrounding cross-banded walnut. Double-cyma curved door has original pull and inlaid stringing surrounding ellipse of crotch walnut veneer. Base also has string inlay surrounding ellipse of crotch walnut veneer, as well as shaped skirt with cross-banded walnut and double string inlay, and French feet.
Read and Watson Clock in H. Moore Case,
cherry and maple, with poplar secondary. Broken arch pediment with carved rosettes, and old, possibly original, ebonized finials (one broken). Hood has no door, but retains original glass, and is surrounded by 4 free-standing curly cherry columns. Thick band of curly maple decorates waist just under top cove molding. Waist has canted corners with lamb's tongues at top and bottom, and arch top, thumb-molded door. Base also has canted corners with lamb's tongues, and a large, 5-pointed star inlaid in walnut and maple at center. Very finely shaped skirt sits atop French feet.
