Ansonia Clock Company, metal case, mantle clock, "Regent" with Candelabras, ca 1904.

This is another large and rare metal clock that is 22.5 inches high, candelabras are 20 inches high. There must be a hundred castings in these three pieces, all bolted and screwed together. Although very decorative and ornate, there is only one place that they used any weird animals. There are four strange looking mythical animals, all at the top of the clock. The three pieces all have an identical finish, brass; except for the hands and heavy beveled glass. All the dial parts, sash, rings, elaborate open escape parts, are all brass or brass finished.

French three piece clock and urn set, brass and marble. As is the case many times, the French used both brass-bronze and spelter on the same clock, depending on the castings needed for a particular piece.

The clock is 17.5 inches high and the urns are 14 inches high. There are no breaks or repairs to the marble or metal, all 12 turned feet are original. What you may not notice are the female heads on both sides of the urns. As usual, the 8 day round French movement is bell strike and has an outside count. It is not signed anywhere but the silver bell is signed, "AA".

Ansonia Clock Company, metal case n mantle clock, "Lydia with Louis XVI Pitchers", ca 1894 and 1904. The set was cleaned and polished by Bruce Baziluk.

No major restoration was necessary as all three pieces retain their original silver finish. We seldom see the rare models that have not been completely refinished. The only part that is not silver is the dial cutouts and dial center. You probably cannot see the dial center clearly in the picture, but in the very center is the extremely rare "woman in the hammock", which is part of, and just below, the visible escapement. The Lydia is 19.5 inches high and the pitchers are 16 inches. All the pieces have numerous figures and things cast in the body or attached to the items, i.e.

It may not look like much, but it weights more than 2 strong men can carry, and it is all bronze. French 3 piece set, side pieces are 28 inches high, clock 26 inches high. 8 day French movement, bell strike, running.

There are many cast bronze pieces put together to form this monstrosity. All kinds of characters, from angels, lions, goddesses, vines and branches galore. The bronze dial has cartouche numerals behind the cutout dial cover, there is a beveled glass in the sash. A cartouche insert reads, "Boer & Fils, a La Haye". An engraving on the base says, 1857-1882, Zijne Dankbare, Gerneentenaren 7 December". I doubt the case every had a cleaning solution on it. I paid 750 dollars for this museum piece several years ago. Yes I also owned an Edsel.
