Shelf Beehive Gothic
New Haven Clock Co. "Round Gothic", Ca 1885
. We call this style beehive and it even has a new beehive tablet. The old 19 inches mahogany veneer case isn't all that bad. There is a repair or two on the lower door and the bottom board, sides only. Other repairs on the bottom board, right side, are all the case needs to put it back in fine condition. The original paint is still on the zinc dial, upper glass is original, full backboard label and an 8 day seatboard mounted brass movement that strikes a coil gong on the hours. This is a pretty nice 120 year old beehive. Ly-New Haven No. 1369.
8 Day Round Gothic Striking. New Haven Clock Co., New Haven, Conn", on the complete paper label glued to the inside of the original glass, which is correct.
This is a very late clock. It has a blank paper dust cover on the backboard. Some paint flaking on the lower glass, original upper glass with putty, original unsigned painted dial, and original hands. The mahogany veneer case is in original grungy condition, never cleaned. Good veneer all over except on a couple of corners. The movement is a huge, unsigned, but nonetheless, Jerome 8 day drum fusee movement, with extended plates. It is 7 inches by 4.5 inches overall. The clock is 17 inches tall.
