Cuckoo Wall

Black Forest, Germany, early 2 weight 30 hours, time and strike, carved walnut hanging cuckoo clock, c1870

this early model is more rustic and primitive than ones appearing after 1900, and has intricate fretwork and carving, and a large bird with moving beak. The hands and numbers are old, but one number is absent and others are damaged. The wood plate movement is accessed through side doors, needs service and its original bellows will need attention. The iron weights also are an older style; the carved pendulum hangs from a simple gridiron rod. Ht of case 17.5"
